Organiser's Description
The event takes place on the Summer solstice, and this year Swim Solstice has moved up the road to Thorpe Lakes. The swim will begin in daylight and finish by twilight so for the final hour of the swim glow sticks (provided) and tow float (not provided) will be required. Laps will be 1000m long for the first 2 hours and reduce to 500m for the final twilight hour.

Race Format
At 7pm swimmers will start in the water and begin their 3 hour swim.
Swimmers will compete either solo, in pairs or teams of 3 to see who can complete the largest number of laps in the time given. The current number of laps will be displayed in the club house so supporters & team mates can see how the scores are progressing.
The swim will begin in daylight and finish by twilight so for the final hour of the swim glow sticks (provided) and pull buoys (not provided) will be required. Laps will be 1000m long for the first 2 hours and reduce to 500m for the final twilight hour.
Competitor Information
Open Water Swimming: You will want to be a confident and relaxed open water swimmer to make the most of this event so training outdoors before the event is highly recommended. You will be able to exit the lake upon completion of each lap, rest/feed and re-enter as required.
Timing: We will be using an electronic iPad based timing system which provides accurate lap counts reported live to the screens indoors. Each team will have a timing band which will be used to record lap counts.
Nutrition: There will be nutrition and feed stations available on course and on land during the event.
Facilities: You will have access to changing facilities including showers, lockers, toilets and bar.
Tow Float: For the night portion of the swim you will be required to use a tow float, which you will need to bring to the event. We will supply the glow sticks to attach to or store in the float in order to illuminate it.
Team swimming: Teams will function as a relay so just one person will be in the water at one time. You will share a timing chip and will be able to swap over chips on shore between laps.
Pricing: All prices are inclusive of booking fees, transaction fees & Event Protect.
Age restriction: Restricted to people born before 19 June, 2005
