Thames Trot Ultra

Iffley Village, Oxford

33 Church Way, Oxford OX4 4EB, UK

Sat 23rd October 2021

Starting at 08:30

Organiser's Description

October 2021 now sees the race in its new position in the calendar as a great end to the season. This is the 14th running of this fabulous race and is one not to be missed.

A tough 48 mile run along the Thames from Oxford to Henley. Ever changing scenery on the river with beautiful houses and traditional rowing club houses, this is one of the best way marked routes we have come across.

This is great race with everything from tarmac paths to muddy trails. Using the banks and towpaths of England's largest river, as well as footpaths and bridleways, we have created an ultra distance course that will always keep you interested and challenged. Well stocked feed stations and enthusiastic support complete what promises to be a great day out.

Age Limit: Due to the strenuous physical demands of running 50 miles in one day Thames Trot is restricted to competitors over 18 years of age only.

Toilets: Toilets are available in the hotel; there are also portable toilets at the finish in the pavilion at Mill Meadows, Henley On Thames.

Course Details

The start is approximately 3 miles South of Oxford. From the Hotel there is a short jog down to Iffley lock and after crossing the river the route takes the towpath heading South. The run follows the course of the Thames to that other great rowing venue, Henley, a short walk from the railway station which is good for car parking or transport back to Oxford. The Thames Trot is run predominantly off road following the clearly marked Thames Path. As with all Go Beyond Ultra events, map books specific to the event will be issued at registration; the download above is available prior to the race to aid course familiarisation. The route is generally well signed but you should not rely entirely on the waymarkers.

How To Get There

By road: The venue can be accessed from the M40, J8 or 8a. Follow the A40 towards Oxford to its junction with the Eastern by Pass. Turn left, then right where the By Pass meets the A4158.

By train: For anyone travelling by train there is a courtesy shuttle bus from Oxford train station. Please let us know your rail travel arrangements to help us plan. Runners can park in the station car park provided they buy the return train ticket from the ticket office on the morning of the race.
