The Butterfly Effect – Luna Moth

Sun 20th April 2025

A luna moth rests on a rough, brown tree bark. Its lime-green wings with distinctive eye-like spots and long, curved tails are spread out, showcasing its delicate beauty. The moth's furry, yellow body and antennae are also visible. A serene lake surrounded by lush, green trees under a partly cloudy sky. Swans and ducks swim peacefully on the water's surface, which reflects the greenery and parts of the blue sky. Tall grass lines the front of the image, enhancing the natural, tranquil scene. A close-up of decorative silver buckles attached to brown straps, arranged in neat rows on a flat surface. The buckles have intricate designs and are arranged in a visually appealing, repetitive pattern. A picturesque landscape showcasing a well-maintained green lawn leading to a historic brick tower partially hidden by dense trees. The scene is under a dramatic cloudy sky, with autumn leaves on trees adding vibrant colors to the image. A faux butterfly charm designed to look like a brown butterfly with colorful eye spots is attached to an orange collar worn by a fluffy, brown-furred pet. A serene forest scene with a dirt path winding through tall trees and dense foliage. The forest floor is covered with vibrant bluebells in full bloom, creating a carpet of purple flowers under the lush green canopy. Sunlight filters through the leaves, creating dappled shadows.

Organiser's Description

Welcome to Shipley Country Park in Derbyshire, an area steeped in history and was even mentioned in the Doomsday Book back in 1086! The land has been part of a stately home, hunting lodge, and, as always in this area, a coal mine. We’re be putting on a series of events celebrating the butterflies around the park (with some exotic choices sprinkled in). Hopefully, you can join us and add these unique medals to your Rasselbock collection.

We're back in April celebrating the Butterfly's fluffy friend, the moth. The Luna moth probably being the most iconic.

The aim for our events is to organize races that I would want to take part in, so you can expect amazing support, the best medals and goodies, and a small group of runners that is never any more than 150. Think of it as a small group of friends and family all coming together for an amazing day of running!

There is a time limit of 6 hours for this event. This means that you need to have completed your final lap before the end of the 6 hours for it to be counted towards your final distance. Each lap will be 5.45km long with a total elevation gain of just 80 meters for each loop. This means that if you complete 4 laps you have run a half marathon, 8 laps, a full marathon and 9 laps or more will be classed as an Ultra. You can finish your event at any time within the six hours, and as long as you have completed one lap then you will be classed as a finisher.
