How to Get There

By Car

The postcode is MK15 0DT which is for the Eco Park and this is well signed. There is parking here and further parking across the road at Willen Lake (which is pay and display) and also about 50 spots up Livingstone Drive which is the next road along. Please try and park across at Willen Lake as space is limited on Livingstone Drive. Plan your journey to ensure you arrive with plenty of time to spare.

If coming off Junction 14 of the M1 follow signs for Central Milton Keynes on to the H6 Childs Way and then follow signs for Willen Lake and turn right along the V10. The turning for Eco Park is the first roundabout.

Event Hub Location

The event hub is based on the grass section at Newlands as shown in the below image.

Shelter

The housing crisis isn't about houses - it's about people. The lack of safe, secure and affordable homes is affecting people across the whole country. More than three million families could be one paycheck away from losing their home

Some stats:

Every day, 110 families in England become homeless
Every 13 minutes, another family in England becomes homeless

arrival and registration

Our Milton Keynes 5k and 10k Winter Warmer Run starts at 10am and the half marathon will start at 9am.

Registration will be open from 8.00am and will close at 9.50am so please arrive nice and early.

PLEASE NOTE you will collect your race pack at registration on the day of the event.

Race information will be sent by email pre-event and all your race details can be found within your online profile. Once registered login to check race updates, news, partner offers and more.

You will be using our Chip on Bib race numbers and it is important these are displayed on your outer garment to ensure 1) We can see your race number when running and 2) To help with the timing system to read your time.

Bag storage is available at the event however space is limited so travel as lightly as possible.

Toilets will be within the event hub and ensure you go with plenty of time to spare to avoid long queues.

Coffee and snacks will be available for sale within the event hub.

the event

Please note that the start of the run will be staggered to avoid too much congestion on the towpaths. However this will not affect your time as our Results Base timing team will record your time from when you cross the starting mat.

There will be marshals around the course to support and encourage you.

Please take care when running around the course as this is public land and local residents will be out and about. Please always stay on the left unless otherwise guided.

If wearing headphones please make sure you can hear other people around you and marshal instructions.

after the event

Everyone will receive a medal and there are also a few trophies that are up for grabs.

Results will be displayed on our Results Base Timing screen so after crossing the finish line you can check out your instant results.

These go live to our website and you will receive an email update once the race is over.

Drinks and sweets will be available at the finish line along with any other goodies from our event partners.

Good course through the park (paths) and along toe paths by the canal with only a small section along pavements, plenty of parking (pay) 5 minutes walk away with a few free on street spaces available but be warned that the road leading to the park had some free spaces but the rest has double yellow lines and a few decided to park on the grass verge which is clearly marked as a no no and they all got a parking ticket. Negatives about the event are only 6 toilets for over 500 runners plus their supporters and the 5 and 10k races started at the same time when it was clearly stated that the start times would be staggered meaning that the 1st k was not much more than a stroll due to the amount of people and narrow paths, this problem has been written about in previous years but it seems that nothing has changed, a bit more organisation is all that's needed.

I attended the 5km run and it was a good course plenty of variation and nice scenery of willen lake. My garmin said I only did 4.95km but before we started the race one of the organisers informed us that GPS don’t measure the course correctly? Total elevation was 47 metres, the zig zags being the largest hill in the course. Would recommend.

The event was well organised but the start was jumbled as it said in the details that the 10k would go approx 5 mins after the 5k was started but everyone started together. I know some people missed some of the course out as there was no Marshall covering that area and due to them being towards the front of the second lap, it wasn’t so obvious as to where to go if near the front. My strava and Apple Watch only clocked 9.85km and several others in the strava group were also short of 10k. It was a lovely course and gave an 85m elevation - mostly from the zig zags (if you know, you know!!) but was fairly flat other than that.

Not well organised event. I participated on 10k winter warmer run in Willen Lake, Milton Keynes. I didn't enjoy race as much I expected, the main problem was the lack of organisation. We were almost 800 people who took place on both races 5k and 10k. People who organised event decided to set start for both races the same time. That was a bad idea because race path at the beggining was narrow and I was struggle to run for the first two kilometres. I forced to stop over three times because people in front of me blocked the path. Also some people who booked 5k wanted to walk and not run, was dificult to overtake them too. It was very bad idea set start on the same time for all the participants. They would rather separate people on three different groups with ten or five minutes difference. Because of the numbers of the people and the limited space, I couldn't perform very well and didn't enjoy race. I will not participate again and will not recommend this event to other runners.

Organiser skimping on costs ?. For an event that must have grossed £14k the organiser appeared to not have invested enough back in . Shamobilc registration process apparently due to a lack of Staff meant the event barely got underway on time. A poor quality Generic medal that didn't relate to the race so will have cost pennies and minimal goodies. Let's hope at least their nominated charity was given a few thousand from the proceeds. We weren't impressed.

Good event, nice run around the lake. The weather was awful (storm Dennis) on the day of this event, but it was organised so well and the staff were cheering us on and the MC lady was positive and had a great attitude.
