Overview

The course is 5000m (5K) long. The course is in Welland Park, Market Harborough. The course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths and grass. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.

Course Description

The run starts on the drive next to the Welland Park Road car park. The course consists of an 'out' section up to the stones outside the kid's playground. A clockwise loop of the park that is repeated three times and 'back' section from the rocks to the finish adjacent to the rose garden. From the start, turn left in front of the cafe and follow the path past the rose garden (on your right) up to the playground. The large stones at the entrance to the playground mark the start of the clockwise loop. Turn right at the stone and follow the footpath alongside the river. Eventually you will reach a crossroads at the back of the café. Turn left here and bear left again on a slight decline to run directly alongside the river. A slight incline will then return you to the main path. You will continue along this path until you reach a turnaround point by the trees at the exit to the park. Return back to the crossroads at the back of the café and turn left along the driveway. Now turn right and follow the path behind the tennis courts, turning left at the end. A right turn will then bring you onto the grass section. Follow the tree line alongside the dog walking area and eventually bear right back to the big stone by the play area. That is the end of the first lap. Repeat for laps two and three and upon completion of the third lap, follow the path back towards the café, finishing behind the rose garden.

Facilities

There are toilets located close to the café, in the Commons car park and in the town centre. There are two small car parks, located on the park grounds. One is accessed via Welland Park Road and the other via Farndon Road. Both are free but have very limited spaces. The Commons car park is a much larger Pay and Display car park. It can be accessed via the A4304. It is a short walk from here to the café. There is a large children’s playground located close to the start. Runners will pass the area several times so is ideally located for spectators. There is an enclosed dog walking area
