Newcastle Parkrun

The course is 5000m (5K) long. The course is in Exhibition Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne and run entirely on tarmac. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.

Course Description

The course begins outside the western boundary of Exhibition Park on a path that runs parallel with that boundary. After about 100m the path bears left and continues to an intersection with another path where the course bears right and continues all the way across the Town Moor to Grandstand Road. At Grandstand Road the runners will pass through a marshalled gate (gate 1) and turn sharp right to run alongside Grandstand Road on a footpath and then turn sharp right back onto the Town Moor through gate 2, also marshalled, at the 2km marker. The route bears left here (this is a fork in the path and so will be marked with a directional arrow) and follows alongside the Great North Road, running back towards Exhibition Park, where it bears sharp right and continues around the perimeter of the Military Vehicle Museum site, then back out across the Town Moor. At a crossroads the course turns left (this will be marked with a directional arrow) and soon passes through a gate (gate 3) which is also marshalled. At the next crossroads the course turns left and then continues towards the corner of the Town Moor next to Claremont Road where it turns sharp left and continues for 100m to the finish.
